Though India has a lot to be travelled and seen but there are few things that the travellers to India need to take care of while their tour to India. These tips can help them save their time and money.

Regarding local transport, tourists should prefer local transport means such as bus, tram, metro train, local train or shared taxis. Buses run by the local authorities are much cheaper than travelling directly via taxi or an auto. In Mumbai and Chennai, local trains are much cheaper means, looking at the time and cost saving. In New Delhi, a newly formed Metro train covers almost the entire NCR (National Capital Region). Kolkata has tram as well as local train that can be used for transportation. BRTS (Bus Rapid Transit System) in cities such as Ahmedabad and Delhi can also save some money. Taxis and autos do charge higher to the outsiders so beware and take care of the meter readings and rates. Indian Railways has connectivity to almost all the places in the country. Flights can be used while travelling to metros or Tier-I cities.

While shopping, bargaining is very important, as places such as Delhi, Mumbai have big roadside shopping areas and tourists can save a lot by bargaining with them. Good bargaining skills can offer you good deals.

Food and water are also important Stay away from unhealthy food and water available at road side vendors. Use Mineral Water as far as possible to avoid any diseases.

While your stay in India, prefer air conditioned rooms, as the scorching heat, especially during summers can take away your energy. Cheap Air conditioned rooms are available in most of the cities of the country.

Planning while travelling can also save on time and money. Planning the journey and the places to visit can save considerable amount of time and money. Places such as Goa, Kashmir should be preferred during summers to avoid excessive heats. Avoid travelling to terror prone areas such as the naxalite areas in Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand.

Use advance bookings for your stay in hotels as well as for travelling through air or railways, as it is cheaper if booked earlier. Also, there are visitors’ timings at some of the places such as The Taj Mahal, the Tirupati Balaji temple, the Meenakshi temple. There are visitor timings at almost all the tourist places. Avoid shopping from tourist places as the prices are higher at tourist places.

Hire tour guides wherever possible so that the tour can be safe and efficient. Tour operators operate in many cities and provide 1 or 2 days city tours at cheaper rates. There are many tour operators which provide country tour also; you can hire them for safe and happy travelling.  Avoid falling into any hassles, follow traffic rules, and avoid any legal actions. Also, beware of your things, as there are many pickpockets and thieves in the local transportation modes.
